Spring is here and those who have spent the past 5 years working on Shepherd’s Garden Park downtown are getting excited for the big reveal—including lead builder W.A. Klinger.
"For a lot of us, it's been a real passion of love to get to this point," said Garry Smith, a member of the Shepherd's Garden board.
This park (at the northwest corner of Sixth and Jackson street) will be ready, late spring or early summer, to welcome family gatherings, downtown lunch-goers, and all those who want to relax in the quiet meditation that the park exudes with its spiritual emphasis. Other than one concern the park has received about its religious theme, Smith said that he has heard nothing but positive feedback.
Last summer, the project was very construction oriented with landscaping and installations.
This spring and summer, the final pieces are all cosmetic including hanging crosses, building a bridge over a cascading water feature, installing railings, and planting trees & plants. Smith expects the park to look nearly complete by Memorial Day.
