PROJECT OVERVIEW
Built in 1934, the building known to locals as the “Hatch” building was originally home to the Montgomery Ward Department Store until the early1970s. In1985,Yankton,SouthDakota,based Hatch Furniture moved into the building until closing their store for good in 2014.
J-Development obtained historic tax credits to renovate the 80+ year old 4-story building. They were able to add a fifth floor addition because when the building was originally designed in the 1930s the intent had been to add another floor, but the owner had never did.
The 52,000 SF building hosts 30 apartments and roughly 12,00 SF of future commercial tenant space.
Now known as Copper Flats, this project received Siouxland Construction Alliance’s 2022 Excellence in Construction Award for projects ranging $1.5M-$5M.
